At Nebraska, Ortiz developed into a starting linebacker and He played on Nebraska’s 1995 and 1997 national championship teams and was part of three Big 12 championship teams during his career.
Following college, Ortiz pursued professional football opportunities with organizations including the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Outlaws, Scottish Claymores and Amsterdam Admirals, with professional records documenting NFL, XFL and NFL Europe/World League involvement.

About Tony
COACHING & ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT
Founder — Linebacker University
Established 2015
After his playing career, Ortiz transitioned his experience into athlete development.
He founded Linebacker University (LBU) in 2015. The program focuses on developing young athletes through football fundamentals, offensive and defensive skills, athletic movement, agility, coordination and conditioning. LBU serves athletes generally between ages 8–18 throughout the North Texas area.
Ortiz’s coaching philosophy is centered on taking the lessons learned from elite college football and professional football and translating them into fundamentals that young athletes can understand and apply.
His goal is not simply to create better football players, but to establish a foundation that can help athletes pursue their goals on and off the field
Ortiz has also been involved in youth football administration and coaching in the Frisco area.
He currently serves as Tackle Director for the Frisco Football League, where his responsibilities include overseeing the tackle football program and coach training.
His youth-development work brings together three distinct parts of his football background:
Elite player → Professional athlete → Coach and mentor
That progression has allowed Ortiz to pass knowledge gained from championship-level college football and professional football directly to the next generation of players.

WHAT PARENTS SAY
"My son had the tremendous fortune to get drafted in FFL by Tony Ortiz and play for him. Since then Jack has continued to work with Tony and LBU, and I can't say enough about how wonderful he has been for Jack's development in football. Tony is a fantastic teacher and coach, and he gives every one of his students a major advantage over the other kids they compete against. He has the rare ability to take his NFL and NCAA National Championship skills and knowledge and translate that into a language that young athletes can understand - that is a gift that MOST do not possess. Can't say enough positive things about not only his coaching and mentoring, but the love he has shown my son over the years. If your kid has the desire to improve in the game, do them a favor and let Tony help make them all they can be."
